New Server, w00t!
I just really finished setting up the new server. This is a Intel Pentium 4, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD running Apache2, PHP 5 and MySQL in Ubuntu. It was a challenge to set it up, just like the first time on the ol’ K6, but was certainly worth the time and effort. I always learn a lot when I spend some time with my servers. Anyways, I will post some more interesting content soon, but for now I am just troubleshoot/optimizing my server and doing homework… I think I might be having a little problem with gZip in Apache, so if you notice weird behavior like you have to load the page twice before it shows or anything like that, let me know. Now… if I could only get some more upstream bandwidth… Alwell. Peace out!

So Easy, a Drunkard Can Do It!
So just browsing digg, and found an interesting article about a fellow Ubuntu user.
“After a rather fine night out on the town, I came home in a rather inebriated state. Put the live disc in, and recklessly choose to install Ubuntu, and did so by wiping the entire hard drive (previously XP). This sort of switch has sortof thrown me in at the deep end, but I have no regrets and has to be one of the best drunken decisions I have ever taken…”
Ubuntu: It’s so easy to install, you can do it when you’re three sheets to the wind. Just goes to show how easy the install for Ubuntu really is.
On a completely different note, there’s a browser based MMO, called Travian, that I’ve been playing, and its pretty dang cool. Maybe some of you remember playing “Kings of Chaos” and “Dark Throne”, well this game is similar, but it beats the pants off of both of them. It’s a good way to be able to passively game, while not spending more than an 15 minutes to an half-hour a day playing. Of course you could play it more, but there is only so much you can do at the “passive pace” the game plays at. If you do decide to play, I’m on Server 2 in the South-East area.

Do You Know Me?
I found this interesting site on digg.com the other day called LikeBetter. It allows you to go through and pick which photos you like better of the two displayed on the screen. If you sign up it will keep your choices and you can see if people are like you. I haven’t really seen much of a purpose or ultimate goal for this site, but it’s fun anyhow.
Other than that random link, I posted a page with my program “Restart Autorun ver. 1.0“. It’s a small Java program that allows you to restart all of the programs that start when Windows starts. This could be useful for use after playing a game, for instance. To learn more about it, go check it out.

Learning as I Go…
Over the last week, I have been working pretty hard on this site to get it too look nice, and function easily. It has been a rocky road with WP Plugins, HTML, JS, PHP and server software.
I found a solution to my server crashes, WAMP5. This program is much better, in my opinion, than The Uniform Server. Not to mention, configuring WAMP is a whole lot easier.
Along with new server software, a photo gallery, and some AJAX have been added. Plus a host of other cool stuff. This is all thanks to all of the great devs that write WP Plugins! Thanks guys!
Now, I just have to get my template to pass XHTML Verification. I have a feeling this will take a while to do, but for now, the page seems to be functioning correctly in both Firefox and IE6.
All comments on the site are welcome and encouraged! Problems on the site can be reported to me either via comments, or the ‘email me‘ link at the left site of the page.

Does ‘E’ really equal mc^2? Maybe E=BF2?
Happy New Year. Hope everyone had a good holiday season.
Back to school again, time to reminisce with old friends and attempt to make some new ones. Maybe this semester will be less work… no probably not.
On to more important things. Battlefield 2. If you like FPS and you are one of the elite few that have PC capable of enough FLOPS to cure cancer, this is definitely the game for you. The graphics are ridiculously amazing and the gameplay is addictive. I honestly bought this game, and I don’t buy many games. If you have played any of the Battlefield Series games and liked them, and your PC is one heck of a workhorse, then pick up this game.
Most sites have features such as POTD (Picture of the Day) or SOTD (Site of the Day), well I’m going to start a new feature called… FOTP ( Feature of the Post). This will include just a cool thing I found or use, and a short blurb about it. So here goes the first FOTP.
FOTP: Maxthon
If you dislike the featureless IE and you are not sure you want to switch to the Flaming Fox Browser Thing. Then try this program. It was actually featured at CES and has won alot of awards.
Until next time… Peace out.
